top 10 healthy foods for cats

When it comes to feeding your cat, you want to do it right. Not only is feeding your furry companion crucial for his health and well-being, but also it helps them live a longer, happier life. However, many pet parents make mistakes when they feed their cats. So, for health and wellness, check out the top 10 healthy foods for cats, the foods that you must feed your cats

Broccoli

Broccoli florets are high in dietary fiber and high in antioxidants. Constipated cats or those with digestive disorders can benefit from the additional fiber that broccoli can provide; however, too much fiber can cause diarrhea, so use it sparingly. Otherwise, your cat can safely eat steamed broccoli florets if they want to!

Apples

Apples are low in fat and high in fiber, making them ideal for senior or overweight cats. They are also high in vitamins A and C, which help to maintain and improve the health of tissues and bones. However, because the seeds and core contain dangerous cyanide, it is critical that you always remove them first.

Bananas

Bananas are well-known for their high potassium content, which is beneficial to heart and kidney function. However, because they are high in sugar and carbohydrates, you should only feed them to your cat in moderation. Small slices of banana are an excellent alternative to commercially prepared pet treats for your cat.

Blueberries

Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which protect cells and tissues in both humans and cats! Furthermore, they are high in fiber and vitamin C. These tasty little berries are safe to feed your cat and may even improve their night vision and lower their risk of urinary tract infections.

Spinach

Spinach is high in vitamins and minerals, and it can be an effective anti-inflammatory agent for a cat’s digestive tract. It is best served steamed, similar to broccoli. It is important to note, however, that spinach can be harmful to any cats suffering from urinary tract problems, as the calcium oxalate can contribute to the formation of harmful crystals within their urinary tract.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is another human food that can be found in commercial cat foods, such as Natural Balance Fat Cats dry cat food with oat groats, and is a source of energy and B vitamins for your pet. However, just because oatmeal is cat-safe doesn’t mean every feline will like it—or any type of human food—so introduce these foods slowly and make sure they like them before incorporating them into your cat’s regular diet.

Bread

Bread, a feline-friendly human food, is a good source of protein and fiber. Cats can eat plain baked bread, but it should never be flavored, as some breads contain garlic, fruits, and even chocolate, which can be harmful to cats. Furthermore, the bread should not have any toppings – butter or peanut butter are high in both fat and calories, and chocolate spread is toxic to cats.

Salmon

Salmon, a good source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, can be a tasty treat for cats and is often found in commercial cat food, according to Dr. Tina Wismer, medical director at the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. While some cat-friendly human foods can be fed raw to your cat, only give her cooked salmon.

Rice

Rice is high in carbs, calcium, iron, thiamin, folate, and vitamin E. When your cat is having stomach problems, moist, warm rice can be mixed into her regular cat food to help stop diarrhea and make her stool harder.

Cooked Meat

Meat protein promotes the health of cats’ hearts, reproductive systems, and eyes. When feeding cooked meat to your cat, avoid using too many spices and always make sure the meat is fully cooked!

Also, never serve the meat with the bone in. Small bones can cause choking, so thoroughly inspect and cut up all meat before serving it to your pet.

These are the top 10 healthy foods for cats, also check out the toxic foods for cats.
