The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has voiced serious concerns about the delay in the NEET PG 2024 counseling process, which has left aspiring medical students in uncertainty. NEET PG 2024-In a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, the IMA highlighted the distress caused by the postponement, which is linked to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court of India.
The IMA pointed out that this delay is not only causing undue stress for students who have worked hard to qualify for postgraduate medical seats but is also affecting healthcare institutions. The lack of timely counseling could lead to a shortage of medical professionals in hospitals, further straining the healthcare delivery system.
“While we fully respect the judicial process and the need for legal clarity, the IMA believes the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare must intervene and find solutions to protect the future of students,” the IMA said in its letter.
The association also raised concerns about the possible disruption of the academic calendar for postgraduate students and urged swift action. The IMA’s letter appeals for an expedited resolution from the Supreme Court, emphasizing the broader implications of the delay on the availability of medical professionals and the education of thousands of medical aspirants across India.
The IMA concluded by expressing confidence in the Ministry’s leadership and offering its full support in resolving the issue promptly. (Source)
