Project Serotonin Launches Preventive Health Platform to Help Hospitals Move Toward Continuous, Personalised Care

Bengaluru: As healthcare systems increasingly look beyond treating disease to identifying health risks earlier, Bengaluru-based preventive health technology company Project Serotonin has introduced a new platform aimed at helping hospitals, clinics and longevity centres integrate preventive care into routine clinical practice.

The Preventive Health Platform and Precision Health OS was unveiled at the recently concluded RISE for Healthy Aging – the Longevity India Conference, held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

The platform is designed to bring together health information that is often stored across separate systems, including clinical records, diagnostic reports, blood biomarkers, genomic information, wearable-device data and lifestyle indicators. The objective is to create a more longitudinal picture of an individual’s health and support earlier identification of potential risks.

From episodic treatment to continuous health monitoring

Healthcare has traditionally been organised around episodes of illness — a patient develops symptoms, seeks medical attention, undergoes investigations and receives treatment. While this model remains essential, the growing burden of non-communicable diseases is increasing interest in approaches that can identify risks before they develop into serious disease.

According to the World Health Organization, non-communicable diseases are responsible for nearly three-quarters of deaths globally. In India, conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses are also increasingly affecting people at relatively younger ages.

At the same time, healthcare providers now have access to significantly more health data than in previous decades. Genomic testing, advanced diagnostics, continuous glucose monitoring, wearable devices and increasingly sophisticated blood tests can generate information about an individual’s health over time.

The challenge, however, is turning these different data points into a clinically meaningful and continuous understanding of a person’s health.

Project Serotonin’s new platform seeks to address this gap by creating a common infrastructure through which healthcare institutions can incorporate preventive health monitoring alongside their existing clinical services.

Bringing different health data together

At the centre of the platform is what the company describes as its Precision Health OS. It is designed to combine genetic information, biomarker trends, wearable data, lifestyle patterns, medication-related considerations and clinical history into a unified health profile.

The system is also intended to incorporate checks relating to contraindications, potential interactions and escalation pathways, while using measures such as encryption, anonymisation and role-based access controls for health information.

Rather than replacing a hospital’s existing clinical systems, the platform is positioned as an additional preventive-care layer. Hospitals and clinics can reportedly adopt the complete system or use selected components depending on their requirements.

Personalised preventive protocols

The information collected through the system is translated into individualised care plans through what Project Serotonin calls its SRTN Precision Daily Operating System (SRTN-pDOS).

These protocols cover areas including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management and other modifiable lifestyle factors. The company says its protocols are informed by a database of more than 44,000 stratified clinical studies and have also undergone real-world pilot testing.

The platform combines technology with human support, including health coaches and care concierge teams, to help individuals follow recommended interventions over longer periods.

This focus on adherence is particularly relevant to preventive healthcare. Even when people receive appropriate advice or treatment, maintaining lifestyle changes and long-term therapies can be difficult. Sustained engagement therefore remains one of the major challenges in preventive medicine.

Growing role of precision medicine

The launch comes at a time when healthcare is increasingly moving toward personalised approaches that consider an individual’s biological characteristics, lifestyle and risk profile rather than relying solely on population-level recommendations.

For hospitals, this could eventually mean using information from multiple sources to identify individuals who may benefit from earlier intervention, closer monitoring or targeted lifestyle programmes.

However, experts have also highlighted the need for appropriate clinical validation, data privacy safeguards and qualified medical oversight as healthcare becomes increasingly data-driven. The usefulness of precision health platforms ultimately depends not only on how much information they collect, but on the quality of the evidence behind their recommendations and how effectively clinicians can use that information in practice.

Speaking about the launch, Dr Ashwat Visvanathan, Head – Partnerships and User Outcomes at Project Serotonin, said the next stage of digital healthcare would depend on connecting the growing volume of health data into a more continuous understanding of individual health.

The company says the platform has been developed over approximately a decade of research and development and is intended for deployment across hospitals, multispecialty institutions, clinic networks and longevity-focused healthcare centres.

What it could mean for preventive healthcare

The emergence of platforms that combine diagnostics, wearable information, genomics and behavioural data reflects a broader shift in healthcare — from responding to disease after it appears to identifying risks and supporting healthier trajectories earlier.

For India, where the burden of chronic diseases continues to grow, the ability to deliver preventive interventions at scale could become increasingly important.

The bigger question for healthcare providers will be whether such technologies can translate large volumes of health data into clinically useful, evidence-based and affordable interventions without adding unnecessary complexity for doctors or patients.

Project Serotonin’s platform is one of the latest developments in this rapidly evolving preventive healthcare space, where digital health, precision medicine and lifestyle interventions are increasingly converging.
