A groundbreaking waste management initiative is reshaping residential societies in Navi Mumbai, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. Spearheaded by S R Dalvi (I) Foundation, Sampurn(e)arth Environment Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and Bintix Waste Research, this project is dedicated to reducing landfill waste, fostering community participation, and driving sustainable waste management practices. How did this come to our notice? Well, well, well, we are active participants and have registered to create zero dry waste as well in this noble initiative of zero waste societies in Navi Mumbai!

The Beginning of a Green Revolution: Zero Waste Societies Movement

This initiative began with a clear mission: to establish a structured waste management system that encourages citizens to adopt responsible recycling practices. By implementing innovative solutions, the project aims to minimize waste and maximize resource recovery.

Where is the Zero Dry Waste Project Currently Ongoing?

The initiative is currently active in multiple residential societies across CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. These communities are embracing efficient waste segregation, collection, and responsible recycling methods.

Short-term and Long-term Goals of the Project

The project is set to revolutionize waste management with a well-defined roadmap:

Short-term Goals:

  • Implement a household-level waste segregation system.
  • Educate residents on proper waste disposal methods.
  • Establish a structured waste collection and recycling mechanism.

Long-term Goals:

  • Develop Zero Waste Societies where all recyclable waste is efficiently processed.
  • Minimize landfill waste and reduce environmental pollution.
  • Promote a circular economy by converting waste into reusable resources.

Zero Waste Societies in Navi Mumbai: What Is the Process of Going Zero Dry Waste?

The team is revolutionizing waste collection, segregation, and recycling using cutting-edge, data-driven technology. Their process includes:

  1. Collection: Every week Dry waste is collected from societies and individual households. (Bags are provided by the foundation with QR codes to track your waste)
  2. Segregation: AI-driven technology sorts materials into recyclable categories.
  3. Processing: Identified waste is sent to appropriate recycling units.
  4. Data Tracking: A waste analytics system helps measure impact and optimize efficiency.
  5. Incentives: You receive monetary rewards for effective waste management on per kg basis.

Before collection, you need to register on the Bintix App and there should be a reasonable households (like 10+ who are ready to enroll). The team will then distribute collection bags and will collect these bags on a weekly basis from your society gate.
