All About Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: Symptoms, Causes, Prevention, Facts

What is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a disease that affects the female reproductive organs. It is most commonly caused by sexually transmitted bacteria entering your vagina to your uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries.

Signs and Symptoms 

The symptoms and signs of pelvic inflammatory disease can be acute or chronic. Some girls do not experience any signs or symptoms.

The signs and symptoms and symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disorder are probably moderate and tough to recognize. 

Some moderate symptoms are:

  • Pain, starting from mild to severe on your lower abdomen and pelvis.
  • Unusual or heavy vaginal discharge that could have an obnoxious smell

  • Fever, often with chills

Causes

Although there are many kinds of bacteria involved in PID, the bacteria involved in Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are the most common. They are spread during unprotected sex.

There are many other causes too when bacteria can enter your body, they include

  • During menstruation
  • After childbirth
  • Abortion 
  • During the insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD)
  • Any medical procedure that involves inserting instruments into the uterus

Treatment

If you experience:

  • Extreme pain in your lower abdomen
  • Nausea and vomiting, with a lack of ability to hold something down
  • Fever, with a temperature more than one zero one F (38. three C)
  • Foul vaginal discharge

If you have symptoms of PID that aren’t extreme, still consult your doctor as quickly as possible. 

They are usually treated with antibiotics to provide broad-spectrum coverage of the same disease-causing pathogens and bacteria. (Source)

Prevention

To lessen your risk of pelvic inflammatory ailment:

  • Practice secure sex. 
  • Use condoms whenever you have got intercourse 
  • Limit your wide variety of companions 
  • Ask for your associate’s sexual history
  • Discuss with your health care company after contraception. 
  • Wide varieties of birth control do not protect in opposition to PID. 
  • Even if you take birth control capsules, use a condom every time you’ve got intercourse with a new companion to guard against STIs.
  • Get tested. If you’re prone to an STI, make an appointment with your hospital to check out. 
  • Appoint a regular screening timetable together with your clinic or hospital if wanted. 
  • Don’t douche. Douching upsets the stability of microorganisms in your vagina.

Facts

Ectopic pregnancy

Delaying remedies for PID will also dramatically increase your risk of infertility.
